About Ting

Merle Tingley was a famed editorial cartoonist for the London Free Press from 1948 to 1986, known for his iconic mascot ‘Luke Worm’ that he hid in every daily cartoon he drew for the newspaper. In 2014, Ting was inducted into the Canadian Cartoonist Hall of Fame, recognizing his extensive body of work and influence on several artists who grew up following his comics and searching for the Luke Worm trademark. The subjects he drew about decades ago are timeless and continue to be relevant to this day. Every year at Tingfest, we exhibit a selection of his editorial cartoons, creating excitement for visitors as they relive their childhood memories and search for Luke Worm again.

Some of Ting’s art is on display every year at the show, here are some examples of that art.
